A Celebration of Life Service for Kathleen Creech Cates, 82, will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2017, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA, with Rev. Barbara Driscoll officiating. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park, Shreveport, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the funeral home. Kay was born October 16, 1934, in Logansport, LA to Valeria Roberts Creech and William Howard Creech and went to be with her Lord and Savior September 26, 2017. Kay is preceded in death by her husband of 22 years John Albert Cates, Sr., and her daughter Joy Ann Carstensen. Left to cherish her memory is her special friend of 15 years, Ray Urban of Bossier City, LA; son, John Albert Cates, Jr. and (Carol) of Shreveport, LA; daughters, Donna Kay Gingles and (Kerry Lynn) of Logansport, LA, Ava McElwee and (Tandy (Mac), of Bossier City, LA ; sister, Nina Macy and (Gray Macy) of Shreveport, LA; brother, Ronnie Creech and (Matilda) of Victoria, TX; grandchildren, Jason Gingles, Erin Gingles and (Charlie), Michelle Brown and (Brice), Chris McFerren and (Lenore), Joseph Carstensen, Sadie Carstensen and (James), Ava Cates and (John Tyler Smith); great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jordan, Avery, John Avery, Brooks, Emmett, and Liberty. Honoring Kay as pallbearers will be Brice Brown, Joseph Carstensen, Jason Gingles, John Hudek, Chris McFerren, Truman Nichols, John Tyler Smith, and Chris Tilley. Kay (Mama Kay) is a Christian and faithful believer in Christ. She has the charisma of a Royal Queen. Kay is loved by everyone she has ever met. She loved her family and friends. Kay was a generous person. She is an elegant lady who enjoyed dancing with her long time special friend, Ray Urban at the Elks Lodge. She loved life and lived life to the fullest. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Elks Lodge #122, 310 E Preston, Shreveport, LA 71105.
