Kenneth Olin Green, Jr.

A Celebration of Life for Kenneth O. Green, Jr., 62, will be held at 12 noon on Friday, Nov. 1 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Bryan Reed and Dennis Aaron officiating. A gathering of friends will be held at 11:00 AM until the time of service. Ken was born December 15, 1956 in Shreveport, LA and passed away on October 25, 2019 after a six-year battle with prostate cancer. He served as a Reservist and Air Reserve Technician (ART) with the 917 Wing family at Barksdale AFB, La. for more than 26 years as Crew Chief on the A-10s, B-52s, and KC-10s before he retired in 2016. Prior to that, he worked at the Western Electric telephone manufacturing plant where he had perfect attendance for all 14 years. He was an active member of both The Simple Church and Open Range Fellowship (Cowboy Church), and developed close relationships with special friends at both places. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, four wheeling, tinkering with machinery, and spending time with his many friends and dog Peanut. Ken was preceded in death by his father Kenneth O. Green, Sr and brother Tim Green. He is survived by his mother Mary Green, sister Sharon Taylor (David), nephews Jonathan Taylor (Samantha) and Nicholas Taylor (Laura), great-nephew Jack Taylor and great-niece Willa Claire Taylor, many cousins, aunts & uncles, and Peanut Green. He also had many special friends who will miss him dearly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Simple Church, 601 Benton Rd, Bossier City, LA 71111 or Open Range Fellowship, 9950 US-80, Greenwood, LA 71033. His family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Progressive Care Center, Southern Care Hospice, Alberta and Courtney, Dr. Veluvolu, and the many other medical professionals and very special friends who helped us care for him and who freely gave friendship, comfort, prayers, and support. We love and appreciate you.
