Mr. Lawrence Caston, 87, entered into the Gates of Heaven on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 after a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana with Rev. Jerrell Head and Rev. David Permenter officiating. Interment will follow at Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, Louisiana. A visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the funeral home. Lawrence was born on May 26, 1932 in Oak Grove/Stanley, Louisiana to Lawrence and Berta Corrine Rodgers Caston. He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Debbie Lawrence Caston; brother, Marlin "Doodle" Caston & wife Mazie; children, Judy Caston Freeman & husband Joe, Garry Caston and wife Joyce along with their mother Curtis Wells, and Kim Caston Kimbrel and husband Michael; four grandchildren, Kristin Hildebrand (Waylon), Kole Caston, Kinsley & Kolton Kimbrel; three great-grandchildren, Lily, Toby and Joey Hildebrand and niece, Debbie Caston Sullivan. After Lawrence was honorably discharged in November 1953 from the Army, he eventually made his way into law enforcement in DeSoto Parish starting in 1967. He served as the city of Mansfield Police Chief from 1978 until his retirement in October 1985. Also serving as a member of the LA Police Officers association during that time. He was a longtime member of Landmark Baptist Church. Honoring Lawrence as pallbearers are Kole Caston, Waylon Hildebrand, Joe Freeman, Michael Kimbrel, Kenny Jerome, and Rodney Arbuckle. Honorary pallbearers are Kolton Kimbrel, Neil & Larry Callendar, John Mayweather, Charles Harris, Pete Liles, Billy Spears as well as the Mansfield Police Department and DeSoto Parish Sheriff's office. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Landmark Baptist Church in Stonewall, LA or charity of donor's choice.
