Funeral services for Lena May Webb, 92, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Rev. Harry Forrester and Dr. Chad Hardbarger officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Lena was born August 11, 1926 in Chester, LA and went to be with the Lord on December 30, 2018. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, the Frances Rebecca Harrison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Shreveport Chapter of the UDC. She was a self-taught pianist who enjoyed playing and singing sacred music.
A generous person by nature, Lena shared her time in her later years with her card ministry. So many looked forward to birthdays and other occasions because they knew they would have a card from her in the mail. She treasured her friends from near and far. The world will be a smaller place without her.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Nola May; brothers, Herman, Earl, Lawrence, Bernard, and Mitchell May; sisters, Christine Griffith and Mozelle Rasbery; and son-in-law, Jimmy R. Lynn. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Ret. LTC Bill W. May and wife Carol; sons, Gary Wayne Webb, David Michael "Mike" Webb, and James Stephen "Steve" Webb; daughter, Linda Kaye Webb Lynn; grandchildren, Megan Greer, Amber McClellan, Jarred Webb, Stephen Webb; and great-grandchildren, Logan McClellan, Landon McClellan, Lucas McClellan, Dakota Webb, and Will Greer.
Honoring Lena as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Stephen Webb and Jarred Webb; nephews, Stephen May, William R. May, Woody H. May, and Dan Griffith; and friends, Harry Fletcher, George Smith, and Ronnie Sexton.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
The family would like to give a most special thanks to the staff at Heritage Manor South for their love and loving care and to LifePath Hospice for their gentle support.
