Shreveport, La- Lettye E. Johnson Pickett, 83, passed away on June 15, 2015 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2015 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel with Reverend Buddy Hankins, and Reverend Randy Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Lettye was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Alvin Johnson, Sr. and Agnes Mae Laird Johnson on January 30, 1932. She graduated from C.E. Byrd in 1950. She was married to Albert B. Pickett, Sr. for 24 years. She worked as a merchandise handler at J.C. Penney's for sixteen years. She was an active member of Southside Baptist Church, volunteering in the nursery, teaching Sunday school, and VBS. She was also a lifetime, PTA member at Atkins Elementary, Linwood Jr. High School, and Woodlawn High School. Lettye is preceded in death by parents, Alvin Johnson, Sr. & Agnes Mae Laird Johnson, husband Albert Ben Pickett, Sr., brother Alvin Johnson, Jr., grandsons Jeremy Taylor & Mark Taylor. Lettye is survived by her children: Mary Pickett Taylor & husband Mike Taylor, daughter in law Grace Pickett, son: Albert B. Pickett, Jr. and wife Donna, and son, John P. Pickett. Grandchildren: Ryan Pickett, Anna Taylor Terry and husband Josh. Great-grandchildren: Ashton, Maddie, Landon Taylor, Nevaeh, Jyllian, Allyssa, Brantley, and soon to be Whitley Terry & sister-in-law Mary Johnson & cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. Pallbearers will be cousins: Ed Price, Cy Morrison, Norvell Blaylock, Toby Morrison, Laird Evans and Alan Arthur. Memorials may be given to Southside Baptist Church or your choice of charity. The family of Lettye wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Heritage Manor South & staff and Life Path Hospice.
