\"Gramma Max, Nana, Nina, and Nana Max\"   Graveside services for Mrs. Lois Smith McDonald, 95, will be held at Centuries Memorial Park, Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend John Harp will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, September 14, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home Chapel. Lois passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, in Shreveport, LA at the Glen Nursing Home. Family and the loving staff of the Glen were with her when she went to her eternal heavenly home. She was born January 6, 1923 in Stonewall, MS. She lived with Alzheimer\'s Disease for nearly 10 years. Through losses of her loved ones and living with Alzheimer\'s disease, she kept her joyful, loving, kind, beautiful spirit and sweet personality. She was a beautiful, smart, kind, and generous woman with a tender heart. She was a loving, devoted wife to Edward Lee McDonald for 55 years; he went to his eternal home in September 2001. She was a resident of Shreveport, LA for 59 years. She was also an amazing mother and grandmother. She adored her family, and they knew it. Her family adored her and aspired to be like her. She enjoyed working part-time at the drugstore for many years. Lois loved basketball, reading, puzzles, and music. She was a fabulous cook, homemaker, and loving caregiver. Her passion was spending time with her family. Her home was consider a place of rest, comfort, and a safe-haven for her family and friends. Her family cherished the Sunday dinners she cooked for them with vegetable fresh from their garden. She had a gift of making all who knew her feel special. She gave words of praise and compliments to those around her. She had a way of uplifting others even until her last days. Her family, friends and her family at the Glen Nursing Home found her to be an absolute joy and darling person. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee McDonald; daughter, Sue Anne McDonald Petrus Ladatto; daughter, Cathy Lee McDonald; granddaughter, Sherry Anne Petrus; grandson, Shane Edward Basinger; great-granddaughters, Jadyn Basinger and Kinsley Basinger; and her siblings, Luther, Pearl, Lena, Jane (Mary), Rosie, Helen, Bertha and Nellie. Those left to cherish her memory are her granddaughter, Lesa SueAnne Petrus Townsend and fiancé, James Horton; great-grandson, Nick Townsend; granddaughter, Wendi Lois Petrus Grabener and husband, Scott Grabener; great-granddaughter, Abigail Grabener; great-grandson, Ethan Grabener; granddaughter, Shelley Lee Basinger Ruud; great-granddaughters, Taylor Lee Powell and Anna-Lise Ruud; great-grandson, Kyler Shane Basinge; great-great grandson, Eli; and loving relatives in Mississippi. Pallbearers will be Scott Grabener, James Horton, and Greg Burcham. The family would like to express their sincere love and appreciation to her nurses, the staff, her doctors, and friends at the Glen Nursing Home for their kindness, compassion, and love they showed Lois. Lois was a believer in Jesus Christ and a shining example of humanity to others. She and Eddie were members of Brookwood Baptist Church. She is now reunited with many of her precious loved ones in her heavenly home. Her loving, caring, beautiful heart and soul will be greatly missed and forever cherished. \"We will love and remember you always.\"
