Arcadia - Funeral services will be held for M. Lucille Woodard Shelton, age 96, at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Alabama Baptist Church in Arcadia. Bro. Bruce Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow at Alabama Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 on Wednesday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia.
Lucille was born July 18, 1923, to Albert and Rachel Tawwatters Woodard in Simsboro, LA. She passed away at home and went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2019. Lucille graduated from Simsboro High School in 1941. She was a longtime member of Alabama Baptist Church community and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt who will be greatly missed by all.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Rachel Woodard, husband Jimmy M. Shelton, daughter Linda Wright, brother RC Woodard, and by sisters Eleanor Beers, Gloria Richardson and Annie Murial Colvin.
She is survived by her children Dianna Perkins and Marvin Shelton and his wife Deborah, by 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Guenthner, Stephen McCutchen, Douglas Shelton, Jimmy Perkins, Marvin Shelton, and Jon Shelton. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Emmett Woodard.
The family would like to thank Premier Hospice, Melissa Maddox, and Veronica (Muffin) Edwards for the care and compassion they had for their mother.
