Lucretia Vines Rose

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Our beacon of light set sail for her next great voyage on Saturday, December 6, 2014, with her children by her side. Lucretia was born a proud Portuguese fisherman's daughter on November 1, 1931 in Provincetown, MA. She was proclaimed the "Triple Yodel Queen" of Cape Cod and sang on radio stations there and in Newfoundland. She made recordings and skillfully played the guitar and accordion. Our Mom was also a devoted homemaker, passionate for her family. After lovingly raising seven children, she became a school bus driver for an incredible twenty-eight years. Mom was also very active in the church as a parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church. She was a part of the Ladies Guild, participated in many of their stewardship programs and taught CCD for many years. Our mom knew no strangers and welcomed so many into her home with open arms. She was an example of endless love, patience and kindness that we will forever carry in our hearts. She was reunited with her parents, Fufu and Nana Costa, her nine siblings and her late husband 'Daddy Chris' in Heaven. Her gentle, compassionate and loving spirit will be missed beyond measure by her children, Waynette and Ray Lee, Linda and Donnie Roberts, Lynette and Rodney Nichols, Audette and Tim Gladney, Ron and Kim Vines, Paul and Wendy Vines, Suzette Arnold, twenty-five grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a host of relatives and dear friends. The visitation for our Mom will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., followed by a rosary. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 4700 Palmetto Road, Benton, LA, on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 12:00, under the direction of Father Karl Daigle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a cancer foundation of your choice or a local Food Bank to help feed the mouths of many, as our cherished mother so often did.
