Services for Maxwell D. "Mac" Goodwin, 78, will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 in the Chapel at Broadmoor Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Jay Scribner. Interment will be at Beech Creek Cemetery, Atlanta, TX. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA.

Mac was born on November 22, 1937 in Haynesville, LA to Oneal McKenzie Goodwin and T.M. "Mac" Goodwin and went to be with the Lord on September 27, 2016. Mac was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. He retired from U.O.P. after 35 years. Mac was a devoted husband and father and loved the family so much. He fought a long battle with cancer.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Barbara Goodwin; sons, Kerry M. Goodwin, Jeffery B. Goodwin and wife, Tammy, Kevin Goodwin and wife, Wendy; daughter, Cynthia Thomason; special daughter-in-law, Theresa Goodwin and family friend, Joshua Goodwin; nine grandchildren, Randy, Jaeda Crosby, Amber Goodwin, Macensie, Melayna and Nichole Goodwin, Brittney Springer, Brandon Horton, and Gerred Lee; and five great-grandchildren; sister, Janie Burks and husband, Kenneth of Gilmer, TX; brothers, Billy G. Goodwin and wife, Marion of Loveland, CO, and Teddy J. Goodwin and wife, Dot of Fayetteville, NC; sister-in-law, Carolyn Bonin and husband, Roger; one great-nephew, Nathan Bonin; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents, and son, James Michael "Jim" Goodwin, who was killed in a car accident two years ago.

One son paid him the highest compliment when he told his wife if she wanted to see a real life love story "look at my parents."

Honoring Mac as pallbearers will be Kerry Goodwin, Kevin Goodwin, Jeff Goodwin, Jimmy Ray, Kenny Bonin, Brandon Horton, and John M. Springer.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Dan Moller, Dr. Gazi Zibari, Dr.'s, nurses and staff at Willis-Knighton North for their care and compassion.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Broadmoor Baptist Building Fund, 4110 Youree Drive, Shreveport, LA 71105, or the charity of the donor's choice.
