Madeline N. Fitzgerald of Stonewall, Louisiana passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021 at the age of 85. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother Tim Simons. Madeline was born February 2, 1936 to Jim and Georgia Nelson of Many, Louisiana. She served as treasurer at Landmark Baptist Church for several years, a job in which she loved. Madeline is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Harold Fitzgerald; her son, Dickey Fitzgerald; and brother-in-law, Lester Savell. Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Marjorie Savell of Florien, Louisiana; brother, Larry Nelson and wife, Deloris of Pitkin, Louisiana; daughters, Vickie Prothro, Pam Knighton and husband, Larry and Tanya Speights and husband, Jonathan; grandchildren, Courtney Vanni and husband, Nick, Chris Knighton and wife, Cody Knighton and wife, Deanne, Michael Knighton, Brennon Fitzgerald and wife, Emily, Brian Fitzgerald, Caitlin Burnett and husband, Chase; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved so much. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her caregiver, Angela Cathron, for the wonderful and loving care she gave to our mother, and a special thanks to her close friend, Vicki Thompson, for calling and checking on mom daily and Dr. Meghan Harris. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association or a charity of your choice.
