After 99 years of a well lived life, Malery Nunn slipped his earthly bonds Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Malery was born December 11, 1921 in Quitman, Louisiana to Erie Futrell and John Wyatt Nunn. As a young man Malery served with distinction in World War II, which was the beginning of a 24-year military career. In his later years he became a successful businessman and beloved pawpaw to four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was an enthusiastic fisherman, smooth dancer and devoted member of the Barksdale United Methodist Church. Malery's admirable character, warm nature and great sense of humor will be deeply missed. He shared 70 years of life and love with his first wife, Nollie. His second wife, Gilda, graced his final decade. Malery is predeceased by his first wife, Nollie Nunn; second wife, Gilda Nunn; his parents; and brothers, J.M. Nunn and John Ellis Nunn; and sisters, Dorothy Futrell and Ruth Rugg. He is survived by his sons, Randy Nunn and wife, Avery and Michael Nunn and wife, Tori; stepdaughter, Donna Sanford Felt; stepsons, Hoyt Sanford and wife, Charlene, Larry Sanford and wife, Judy, Paul Sanford and grandchildren, Matt, Jason, Mike and Michelle. A funeral service for Malery Nunn, 99, will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. A burial will follow at Hurricane Cemetery, Athens, Louisiana. Pastor Kendall Docter will officiate the service.
