Marcia Katzenstein

Marcia Katzenstein, 84, was born on October 22, 1937, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Walter Wolens and Celia Murov Wolens Sider and passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side in Shreveport on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the B'nai Zion section of the Greenwood Cemetery on Stoner Avenue in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Rabbi Dr. Jana L. De Benedetti.

Marcia graduated from C. E. Byrd High School and attended the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. She owned A Stitch in Time, a needlepoint shop where she custom designed canvases. Her passion in life was caring for her children and grandchildren, who will miss her deeply.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Katzenstein and in-laws, Aaron and Rosa Katzenstein.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Karen Cohen and husband, Craig, of St. Louis, Missouri and Ann Maxey and husband, Pat, of Shreveport, Louisiana; grandchildren, Aaron Cohen, Stephen Cohen, M.D. and wife, Emily, all of St. Louis, Missouri, Jessica Maxey, Ph.D. and husband, Kirby Maxey, Ph.D. of Portland, Oregon and Benjamin Maxey of Shreveport, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Alex, Ajay, Aiden, and Flora and, special friend, Fatie Giounes.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff at Christus Highland Medical Center for their outstanding care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to B'nai Zion Congregation, 245 Southfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71105 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
