Margaret Dupree

Margaret Dupree, 95, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Rose-Neath Marshall St. Chapel, with Rev. Duane Trombetta officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Margaret was born January 16, 1923 in Duisburg, Germany to Margaret and Wiley Griffith (Maj. US Army Ret.). Margaret's second love was music, serving decades as an accomplished pianist/ organist for St. Theresa, Sacred Heart, and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She also worked as secretary for many years for the late Msgr. William O'Hanlon. For over 30 years, Margaret sang with the Shreveport-Bossier Choral Ensemble. She also volunteered throughout her lifetime for various organizations: Red Cross "Gray Lady", Barksdale Officers Wives Club, Veterans Administration Volunteer Assoc. , and lifetime member of the American Legion Assembly , to name a few. But our "nanny" gave us her best as loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. You will always be loved and missed. Save us a front row seat in heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James W. Dupree, Sr. (Capt. USAF Ret.), their journey together beginning in Hawaii, survivors of Pearl Harbor; her parents; and her daughter, Susan Lynn Dupree. Margaret is survived by two sons, James W. Dupree, Jr. and wife Marsha, and Steven W. Dupree and wife Mary; grandchildren, Megan Dupree, James W. Dupree, III (Lance Cpl. USMC), Susan L. Dupree Wright and husband Chris Wright; great-grandchildren, Kendall Dupree, Grayson Wright, and Steven Wright; her sister, Helen Livermont and husband Frank; and a host of loved ones.
