Margaret Gardner

Services for Margaret \"G-maw\" Gardner, 84, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015, in the chapel at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St. in Shreveport, LA. The visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the service begins. Mrs. Gardner was born June 10, 1930 in Ida, LA, to Barney and Annie Means Westmoreland. She went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2015, in Bossier City, LA. Margaret married the love of her life, John Milton Gardner, Jr., on June 6, 1948. They spent 63 wonderful years together traveling through most of the USA visiting all 50 states, Canada and Mexico, until his passing on August 20, 2011. She was a resident of Blanchard, LA for most of her life where she was a homemaker and mom for many years. She also spent several years working for the Caddo Parish Schools food service. Margaret was maybe best known as the "Ceramics Lady" - doing ceramics, teaching classes and spending time with numerous close lady friends while adorning her home and the homes of others with beautiful works of art and a menagerie of arts and crafts. She was also known to many as "Coupon Annie" and for her numerous delicious food recipes. Margaret (or \"G-maw\" as her grandchildren called her) always had a special place in her heart for her four grandchildren -- in her eyes, they could do no wrong and they always deserved breakfast in HER bed - made to order! Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and four sisters, Billie Ponder, Julie Bain, Liz Reed and Cindy Watson. Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her two sons, John Milton Gardner, III and wife, Lee and Alan Gardner and wife, Kristi; siblings, Barney Westmoreland, Jr. and wife Jayne, Jim Westmoreland, Kay Stifle and Doug Westmoreland and wife Janell; and her four wonderful grandchildren, Nikolaus and Kourtney Gardner and Maggie and Annie Gardner; uncle, Neuman Graves and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A special appreciation and heart-felt thanks is extended to the staffs of The Guest House of Shreveport, Savannah Grand Cottage of Bossier City, Cypress Point Rehab of Bossier City, numerous Hospice agencies, and individual visitors who provided Margaret with loving, compassionate care and concern over the last several years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090 or to the charity of choice.
