Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, 130 East Stoner Avenue. Martha gained perfect peace on Monday, December 23, 2019, at WK Pierremont Health Center following a sudden illness, with her sister by her side. Left to treasure her memory and remember her sweet smile and laughter are her sons, Joshua Nabors and Nicholas Nabors and Casey Boose, who was like a daughter; her brother, Jerry T. Segura, Jr.; her sister, Marilyn Joiner and spouse Gary Joiner; her niece, Laura Schlidt and great-niece, Mary Rachel Schildt. Their unwavering love sustained her through her last days. She also appreciated the love and concern expressed by many friends, business associates and customers through her brief illness. Martha was born to Mary and Jerry Segura, who preceded her in death, in Mansfield, Louisiana on October 23, 1954, and enjoyed a typical small-town childhood with loving grandparents, Mittie Murrell and Eula and Jacob Segura, nearby. Following graduation from Northwestern State University, she embarked on a successful sales career that took her to Houston, Texas, before returning to Shreveport to live and work. She was a licensed property and casualty agent for more than 20 years and was the owner and operator of Nabors Insurance where she daily lived the motto of Nabors Helping Neighbors. She chose Laura, her niece, to administer business operations knowing Laura would have the support of her trusted employees, Denise and Tim, and her siblings. Martha never met a stranger and turned many of them into friends. Her joie de vivre was evident to all. The only thing she loved more than her family was a good party with plenty of food, beverage, music and laughter. She found all of those things and more with her Mardi Gras Krewe des Ambassadeurs which widened her circle of friendship. Community involvement was an important part of Martha's life. She was a member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, BNI Elite, Northwest Louisiana Association of Realtors, Women's Council of Realtors, Friends of a Feather and the Muses at Centenary College. She was a diplomat for the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and was a 2019 nominee for the Shreveport Chamber group's Athena Award. Martha also supported animal welfare organizations as she had two rescue fur babies, Jack and Holly. During her last days she reiterated her love for family and friends as well as for Shreveport, indicating it had been an incredible place to live and raise her boys and she hoped others feel the same way. Honoring Martha as pallbearers will be Robert Schwartz, Caleb Trussell, James Marcotte, Darius White, Karius White, Eric Miller, DJ Britten. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Krewe des Ambassadeurs. The family is grateful to WK Pierremont stepdown unit for their kindness, love and comfort during this difficult journey. The family suggest donations in Martha's memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 200 E. Stoner Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana 71101, Louisiana Methodist Children's Home, 904 DeVille Lane, Ruston, Louisiana 71270, or local animal rescue organizations. The last message from Martha: Give everyone a smile and hug those you love because life is fleeting, and people need to know they matter.
