Mary Christine Palmer

Funeral services for Mary Christine Palmer, 91, will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Wayne Fussell. Mary was born on June 23, 1929 to George Emmett Traylor and Ruth Eleanor Pennington Traylor in Hall Summit, Louisiana and passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mary was a resident of Shreveport and worked as a secretary for most of her life. She graduated from Fair Park High School. She loved her family and loved to laugh. She enjoyed gardening and loved planting flowers. She was a member of the Huntington Church of Christ. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; five siblings; and son-in-law , Tom Gentry. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Leroy Palmer; son, Jerry Wayne Layfield; daughter, Donna Marie Gentry; grandchildren, Daniel Shane Layfield, Michael Jeremy Layfield, and Christina Marie McNulty; and four great-grandchildren. Honoring Mary as pallbearers will be John Harris, Ralph Hollis, Clint Hollis and Raymond Watson. The family would like to thank the staff of Guest House for all the care and compassion shown to Mary during her time with them.
