Funeral Services for Mary Elizabeth Rainey Hinton, 78, will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Bloomburg, Texas. A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 prior to the funeral service. Officiating will be Brother Tom Brown. Mary was born on August 16, 1942 to Malcom Elwood Rainey, Sr. and Prudie Lorene Hinton in Atlanta, Texas. Mary was a resident of Shreveport where she graduated from Fair Park High School. In 1966 she began working for Western Electric and retired in 2000 after 34 years of dedication and hard work. Mary was active in many churches throughout her life. She was a Sunday school teacher at many of those churches. Mary enjoyed being outdoors but did not care for hot weather. Her belief was that she could put more clothes on to keep warm but that she could never take enough off to get cool. Mary took care of everyone in one way or another including the little raccoons that would come up at night in her backyard. She truly was an amazing, loving, god-fearing woman who will be missed by those whose lives she touched. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Elwood and Lorene; husband, Vernon Hinton; grandson, Christopher Darryl Price; brother, Malcom Rainey, Jr.; brother-in-law, George Baker; and nephew, Robert Rainey. Mary is survived by her son, Derryl Lynn Price of Shreveport; grandson, Travis Ray Price of Palestine, Texas; sister, Becky Baker of Shreveport; sister-in-law, Marilyn Rainey of Mooringsport; niece, Erika Rawls (Brian) of Bossier City; great-nieces, Racheal, Haley and Shelby; and four great-grandsons.
