Mary Futch

Mary Ruth Patterson Futch passed away suddenly and peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 11th. Mary was born on January 22, 1931, in Farmerville, Louisiana to Henry Aylmer and Rosa Rhodes Patterson. She came from humble beginnings as the youngest of seven children raised on the family farm. Mary grew up in Farmerville and after graduating from Farmerville High School, went on to attend Louisiana Tech, where she met her husband, John Miller Futch. After living in the North Louisiana area for a few years, John and Mary settled in Arcadia, where they raised six children. Mary devoted her life to the service of her husband, children, church, and community. She was beautiful and took pride in always looking her best. She was a hard-working, organized, resourceful, and wonderful mother and wife. She raised her six adoring children with amazing cheerfulness while simultaneously working diligently to support her husband's career and maintain a happy home for all of them to enjoy. She loved music, gardening, shopping and playing cards. Mary lived her life with a great sense of humor and without complaint. She was easy to love and was loved by many. Remaining close to her parents, siblings, and in-laws throughout her life, she made those relationships a priority, dedicating time and energy to visiting them as well as hosting them in her home. She also had several close friends and sisters-in-law with whom she intimately shared life's ups and downs. Her legacy of graciousness has been passed not only to her children and grandchildren, but also to her great grandchildren, extended family and community. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John; her parents, Aylmer and Rosa Patterson; brothers Carl, Ray, and Henry; sisters Chloe, Marie, and Annette. She is survived by her children, Steven, Doug and wife Dianne, Jan, Patsy, Lee and wife Diane, Keelie and husband Mike; grandchildren Michael and wife Jennifer, Janie, Heath and wife Amy, Doug Jr., Tabitha and husband Steven, John, Thomas, Henry, and Ben; great-grandchildren Hunter, Lila, Mae, Brooke, and Jamesyn. Family visitation will be held at 9:00 AM with funeral services immediately following on Wednesday, November 22nd at 10:00, First Baptist Church, Arcadia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Arcadia, or to Alzheimer's Foundation of America at Alzheimer's Foundation.org or 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, New York 10001.
