Mary Hancock McDuff, 94, of Shreveport Louisiana, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 after a short illness. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana on Thursday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Chapel on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private, family-only interment will follow the funeral service at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent. Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Clint Davis from The First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Mary was born Mary Grace Risner on February 9, 1927 in Florence, Alabama. She moved to Shreveport with her family in 1942 when her father went to work in the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant. She retired from The First National Bank of Shreveport in 1988 where she worked for many years in the Trust Department. Mary was a long-time member of the Haynes Avenue Baptist Church where she made many friends who will miss her. Mary never made anyone feel like a stranger; she brought light, comfort, laughter and love to every person she met. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Millard F. and Lola M. Risner; brother, Frank Risner; sisters, Ruth Sills, Lorraine Barrios and Gloria Freeman and husband, Melvin McDuff. She is survived by sons, David Hancock and wife, Roberta of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Steven Hancock and wife, Kathy of Hallsville, Texas and Paul Hancock and wife, Lorraine of Friendswood, Texas, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made in Mary McDuff's name to St. Joseph Hospice & The Carpenter House, 8950 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, Louisiana, 71105.
