Maureen Ann Hermes Byrd

A memorial service for Maureen Ann Hermes Byrd will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 4700 Palmetto Rd., Benton, Louisiana at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Officiating will be Father Karl Daigle. Maureen was born on July 6, 1935 to Harry H. Hermes and Mary E. Desire Hermes in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Maureen married the love of her life, Paul Byrd, on June 27, 1953. She worked for Tastey Bakery decorating cakes before she became the Director for Children's House. She loved her babies as they were her own. She was always willing to help anyone who was in need and her door was always open. She enjoyed "window shopping", never buying anything! Maureen is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Hermes Jr. and wife, Dunnie, Harold Hermes and Wayne Hermes and grandson, W. Trey McCain. She is survived by her husband, Paul Byrd, Sr.; brothers, Bobby Hermes and Elmer Hermes and wife, Sue; daughters, Donna Fulco, Susan McCain and husband, Winston and Cindy Leon and husband, Joey; sons, Paul Byrd Jr. and wife, Elizabeth and Scott Byrd and wife, Kim; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and special friend, Jerry Green who faithfully brought her communion every week. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
