A graveside service honoring the life of Maxine Greenstein Levine will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in Agudath Achim Cemetery at the corner of Walnut and Yale, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating will be Rabbi Sydni Rubinstein of Agudath Achim Synagogue.
Maxine Greenstein Levine passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021. She was 86 years old. She was born November 24, 1934 in the Bronx, New York only two blocks from Yankee Stadium, making her a life-long Yankees fan.
Maxine was schooled in New York City and attended Brooklyn College and New York University, where she earned a degree in marketing. She met the love of her life, Irvin, while working in Miami Beach, Florida. Later, they moved to Houston, Texas and in 1968 they moved to Shreveport, where they made their home for the past 52 years. Maxine found employment with Selber Brothers Department Store, ran the Goldring's Department Store's Button-Down Shop in Shreve City Shopping Center and then later worked at Sue Peyton's Dress Shop, where she won several awards in the course of selling ladies fine clothes. She was a long-time member of Agudath Achim Synagogue.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Irvin H. Levine; mother, Tillie Greenstein; father, Nathan Greenstein; brother, Peter Greenstein; brother-in-law, David Friedman; and nephew Brice Friedman.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Jody Levine; sister, Karen Friedman; brother, Ronnie Greenstein; and numerous nieces and nephews.
