Mercille was born March 3, 1935 in Shreveport, LA and went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2019. Mercille took great pride in caring for her yard and visiting with her squirrel and redbird friends every day. She worked in the nursery at Calvary Baptist Church for 15 years. Most of all, Mercille loved her husband and family beyond measure. She always wore a smile and ensured that each member of her family received that special warmth, which made them feel the most important person on earth. Mercille was a genuinely loving person setting the highest example of how we should all love. She extended her heart and gave a piece to everyone, asking nothing in return. Mercille married her best friend, with a romance unequaled and safeguarded throughout her life.
Mercille was preceded in death by her son, David Ray Sullivan; sisters, Alice Thomas Gill, Maggie Theola Tingle, and Loretta T. Bamburg; and brothers, Lamar E. Thomas and Everette Thomas.
Left to cherish her memory are her childhood sweetheart and husband of 67 years, Ray Sullivan; grandchildren, Cody Sullivan and Clay Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Paige Sullivan, Emily Sullivan, and Isabella Sullivan; brother-in-law, Stanley Sullivan and wife Norma; and nieces and nephews, Steve Tingle and wife Donna and Trish Kuretich and husband Steve.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Kuretich, Stephen Tingle, Steve Tingle, Clay Sullivan, Cody Sullivan, Jimmy Thomas, and Andy Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Sullivan, Rodney Thomas, Kenny Thomas, and Horace Tingle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Superior Hospice, especially Jessica and Wanda for all their loving care.
