Michael Edwards

On Monday, August 5, 2019, Michael Paul Edwards, 72, of Athens, Louisiana, took flight and ran into the arms of his precious Lord and Savior. He was a testimony to many people. He lived as a witness to a life of grace and kindness to everyone he met. He lived a full life as he struggled with Multiple Sclerosis, but never complained. His answer to "How are you, Mike?" was always, "I'm doing good! How are you?" Services to celebrate his life will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9th, with visitation to precede, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Atkins Cemetery. Rev. Perry Anderson will officiate. Mike was a life-long member of the Athens United Methodist Church, and retired from CenterPoint Energy in 1992 as a drilling supervisor, and was the proprietor of the Country Cottage, along with his wife Bonnie, until the time of his death. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence P. and Myrleen Edwards of Athens, his wife's parents, Jules and Bonnie Bailey of Athens, and his son, Joseph Michael Edwards of Sibley. Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 33 years, Bonnie Bailey Edwards of Athens, LA, daughter, Monica Gail Spillers of Minden, son, Christopher Ryan Spigener and wife Debbie of Homer, daughter Rebecca Freeman and husband Courtney of Las Vegas, NV, sister, Patricia Hollenshead of Shreveport, brother, Stanley Edwards of Athens, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Hollenshead, Adam Hollenshead, Brad Lantrip, Clay Harris, Clint Gleason, Matthew Edwards and Buzzy Buckner. Honorary pallbearers will be Ardis Powell, Cole Spigener, Cody Bryant, Walter Hayes, Jack Spurlock, Al Faulk, Tommy Davidson, Hugh Abercrombie, Jimmy Bates, Tommy Edward, and Clay LeGendre.
