Mildred Marr

Shreveport, La- On December 5, 2014, Mildred Marr left us to be with her Lord and her "Sweetie" of 60 years, Melton. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved cooking and entertaining her family and friends. You never went to her house without being served something to eat. When she was not with family and friends, she was most happy at church. Mildred and Melton were always found faithfully serving the Lord Jesus Christ in their church. She was a faithful example of a Christian wife and parent. Mildred loved children and served for many years in Sunday School in the children's department at Summer Grove Baptist Church. She always called her pastors and staff members, her "preacher boys". Mildred was born in Many, LA, August 12, 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melton and her parents Walter and Blanche Maxey and great-granddaughter, Gabby. She is survived by one son, Cecil Marr and wife, Pam; grandson, Erik Marr and wife Jennifer; granddaughter, Christie Chipper and husband, Bob; step-grandson, Shannon Lively and wife Helen; great grandsons, Grayson Marr, Nick Chipper, Jett Chipper; great granddaughter, Britany Chipper; step- great granddaughter, Paige Lively and step- great grandson, Stephen Lively; niece, Linda Baker and husband, Jimmy.
