Bossier City - Services for Mrs. Nancy Parker Sanders will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Bossier City at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Officiating for the service will be Rev. David Dietzel and Rev. Karl Klaus, with music provided by Butch Tinker. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Airline Drive, Bossier City, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Mrs. Sanders was born August 27, 1934 in Bossier City to H.L. "Happy" and Ester Freeman Parker. Mrs. Sanders died Saturday, March 18, 2017 following a lengthy battle with infections. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. C.L. "Lody" Sanders. Left to cherish her memory are her son, John Mark Robertson and his wife, Sara; granddaughter, Jennifer Robertson Hall and husband, Brandon; grandsons, Brion Taylor James and Thomas Dyson James; great-grandchildren, Alexis Marie Hall, Skylar Ryan Hall, and Mason Parker Hall. She also leaves behind several cherished cousins, Allen Self, Sr. and his wife, Bonnie, Morgan "Scooter" Freeman, and Sheila Freeman Lindsey, who was more like a sister than her cousin. A graduate of Bossier High School, she received a B.A. degree from Louisiana Tech University, her Masters from the University of Mississippi and completed a plus 30 in graduate studies. Mrs. Sanders began a teaching career in 1955. She taught at R.V. Kerr Elementary and T.O. Rusheon Junior High School. During her employment with the Louisiana educational system, she served as the Educational Consultant for Louisiana Tech University on the Bossier Parish Evaluation team. She organized, developed, and conducted various parish-wide workshops while serving as the Title I Evaluation Coordinator in Bossier Parish. In 1983 she retired with twenty-eight years of service. During her membership in the First United Methodist Church, Mrs. Sanders was a member of the choir, taught a youth Sunday school class, and served as an officer in the Parker Sunday school class. Mrs. Sanders was a member of Alpha Rho chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma society and was a past corresponding secretary in her chapter. She was a charter member of the first Bossier City Lioness Club and served several years as an officer in this club. She served as secretary for the Louisiana and north Louisiana units of the Airstream organization WBBCI. During her life, Mrs. Sanders was Vice President and Publicity Chairman for the North Louisiana Chapter of the AAKP (American Association of Kidney Patients). Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brion Taylor James, Thomas Dyson James, and Brandon Hall; beloved cousins, Morgan "Scooter" Freeman and Judge Parker Self; and Steve Whitelaw, cousin of her son. Honorary pallbearers are Carter Boyd, M.D., Robbie McCrory, and Allen Self, Sr. The family of Mrs. Sanders would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Home Instead Senior Care, especially sitters, LaQuinta Taylor and Sharon Dorsey, Pierremont Healthcare Center, the Promise Hospital - Bossier City, Willis-Knighton Bossier, and Pilgrim Manor for the exemplary care provided to our mother and grandmother during the last several years. We would also like to thank Dr. Carter Boyd for being not only a physician, but also a friend. In lieu of flowers, donations or memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Bossier City (201 John Wesley Blvd., Bossier City, LA 71112), the North Louisiana Chapter of the American Association of Kidney Patients (aakp.org), or a charity of the donor's choice.
