Nicholas Putch, Sr.

Nicholas Putch, Sr., 90, passed away peacefully May 25, 2015. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church with Msgr. Carson LaCaze officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. Nicholas was born on September 27, 1924 in Shreveport, LA. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Marines. He bravely served in World War II with the 4th Marine Tank Division in the South Pacific Campaign. In 1945, he was honorably discharged from the Marines and resumed his life in Shreveport. He was married to Sarah Jane Dolce for 30 years and they had four children. He also served the LAMOA as Secretary/Treasurer during 1984, was a Board Member from 1985-1989, President from 1990 - 1991, Past President in 1992, was honored and inducted into the LAMOA Hall of Fame in 2000 for his contribution in passing the Gambling Bill in The Great State Of Louisiana. Nicholas was preceded in death by his sons, Nicholas Putch, Jr., Denis Putch; three sisters, Rosemary Putch, Teresa Wilkie and Charlene Sprengelmeyer; three brothers, Carl Putch, Henry Putch, and John Putch. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Rita Jane Durio of Lafayette LA, son, Robert W. Putch and wife, Kristen of Cypress, TX; siblings, Norma Jean Lenard & Sudie Mae Corbett of Shreveport, LA, Patricia Linhares of Phoenix, AZ, Rita Coleman of Richardson, TX, and grandchildren, Nicholas Putch III, Matthew Durio, Ryan Putch, Nathan Putch, Angela Putch, and Caroline Kryszewski; and eleven great-grandchildren. The family would also like to acknowledge Nick's dear friends, Carolyn Kittle and Paulette Casabonne, who were devoted to him and whom he loved like family. Honoring Nicholas as pallbearers are Nicholas Putch III, Matt Durio, Ryan Putch, Nathan Putch, Nicolas Putch and Alan Kryszewski. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Roy Tabor, Mike Russell, Bill Goodin, Bill Giles, Scotty Henderson and Freddie Kittle.
