Ray was born on October 25, 1939 in Gilbertown, Alabama to Robert Earl Diamond and Mamie Viola Hiatt Diamond and passed away June 30, 2019 in Bossier City, Louisiana, at the age of 79. Ray was a veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. He spent over 40 years as a pipeline inspector in the oil and gas industry. Ray will be remembered for his friendly personality, his ability to turn a stranger into a friend, and the way he loved banana pudding. He had an incredible sense of humor he loved to share with others. He was a fan of Alabama football and an avid fisherman. He enjoyed competing with friends and family to see who could catch the biggest fish. Ray always had a soft spot in his heart for babies but most of all for his family. He always looked forward to family get-togethers and reunions in Alabama. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, David Ray Diamond; brothers, Cecil Hiatt, Slater Diamond, Hollis Diamond, and Sanford Diamond; and his father-in-law and mother-in -law, Mr. and Mrs. Columbus Jimmerson. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Ann Diamond; son, Danny Diamond and wife Jessica; daughters, Rita Diamond Shrum and husband Johnny, and Donna Diamond Mitchell and husband Rick; grandchildren, Amanda Shrum, Amy Shrum, Nicholas Mitchell, Christopher Mitchell, Austin Mitchell and Bayle Rachel; five great-grand children; brother, Robert Diamond and wife Edna and several nieces and nephews including special nieces, Myrtle Haisten and Viola Robinson. Honoring Ray as pallbearers will be David Baker, Bobby Diamond, Austin Mitchell, Christopher Mitchell, Nicholas Mitchell, and James Skinner. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Clark, Robert Diamond, Troy Jimmerson, Randy Jones and Gray Mosley. The family would like to thank the staff at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Bossier City, Louisiana for the care and compassion shown to Ray during his stay. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the DAV-Disabled American Veterans at P.O.
