Arcadia - Graveside services will be held for Otho Chandler, age 95, at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 prior to service on Saturday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Arcadia. Otho was born January 31, 1924 in Minden, LA to William Gerald and Vera James Chandler. He passed away on April 24, 2019, in Arcadia, LA. Otho proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He served in WWII with the 58th General Hospital Division as a Combat Medic, and later with the 10th Infantry Division. After the military, Otho retired as a custodian from Bienville Parish School Board, and worked as a Roughneck for Noble Drilling. Otho was a hard worker who enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, working cows and building things. Otho was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, who will be greatly missed. Otho is preceded in death by his parents William and Vera Chandler, siblings; Clenard Chandler, Charles Chandler, Margaret Jiles Williamson, and Agnes Phillips, grandson Brandon Hadden, and son-in-law Conny Pearce. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Chandler, children; Kay Pearce and Garry Chandler and wife Judy, grandchildren; Marc Pearce (Krystal), Mikie Pearce (Ginger), Libby Boyet (Keith), Catherine Cockrell (Kevin), and Natalie Carter (Matt), by 13 great grandchildren, sisters; Loda Meek (Elgy) and Joyce Tawwatters, brother-in-law Jerry Johnson (Susan), and by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family would like to thank Dr. Abshire, Dr. Sasaki, Willow Ridge Nursing Home, Magnolia Home Health, and Heart of Hospice for their care of Otho. Pallbearers will be Marc Pearce, Mikie Pearce, Keith Boyet, Matt Carter, Kevin Cockrell, and Chandler Pearce. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, and the members of the local VFW and American Legion.
