ASHDOWN, AR – Paul Tennyson Glanville, Jr. was born May 28, 1923, to Maria De LaGarza and Paul Tennyson Glanville, Sr. in Dallas, TX. Preceding him in death are his parents, a sister Margaret Glanville Autrey, and an infant daughter Mary Louise.

God’s mighty Angels blew their trumpets as the celebration of life began for Paul on Monday, June 4, 2018 at the earthly age of 95.

Paul Jr. married Bonnie Lynn McKnight on October 18, 1947. He leaves behind his wife of 70 years and their six children: Susan Marie Glanville, Rebecca Glanville Francis, Charles T. Glanville and wife Percy, Paula Glanville, Penny Glanville Matel and husband Didier, and Beverly Glanville and husband Tony Burton. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Paul, Jr. was a WWII veteran, having served as a Tech Sgt. Artillery aircraft pacific gunner, in the South Pacific under Gen. McArthur. He served from August 1942 to January 1945. Paul loved and cherished his country and all of his fellow soldiers.

Paul Jr. attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He interrupted his education to volunteer for the Army immediately after the Pearl Harbor invasion. After the service, he returned to SMU to complete his degree where he met his wife Bonnie. After graduating from SMU he worked as a Group Controller for Sears Roebuck and Co. for 37 years. After retiring he served three, 4-year terms on the Caddo Parish School Board, serving as president. Paul, Jr. was also a National Silver Hair Congressman representing the State of Louisiana, a 32nd degree Mason and served as District Governor for Rotary International. Paul also enjoyed traveling with the Shriners organization to third world countries and bringing children back to Shriner Hospitals. He was also very active ministering to those in prison in Homer, LA.

When asking Paul, Jr. what he would like to be remembered by his reply was, “Nobody should question where I have gone, they should know by the life I lived.” Paul was the most positive person one could ever meet. He was a true friend to all who crossed his path and would do anything he could to help people.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA. Visitation is from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to service at 2:00 followed by a graveside service at Forest Park West.
