A memorial service for Pierre Edwin Perdue will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating will be Dr. Randy Harper of Bellaire Baptist Church. Pierre was born on January 24, 1936 to Earl M. and Vivian C. Perdue in Houston, Texas and passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Pierre shared a love for music, playing in the band at Bossier High School and traveling to Russia to perform. He was also an athlete, where he played both baseball and basketball. He received a scholarship in baseball to Texas A & M, later transferring to Centenary College of Louisiana. He was a geologist in the oil and gas field. In 1978 he became District Manager for Gator Hawk External Testers, Inc. He was an avid fisherman and was member of the Lake Bistineau Perch Jerkers Fishing Club. He was a member of the American Legion, Koran Post 388. He worked the Shreveport Farmer's Market at the Festival Plaza where he enjoyed spending his Saturday mornings. Pierre was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard E. Perdue; aunt, Fannie Mae Conn and uncle, Lannie Conn, USN. He is survived by his sons, Gary E. Perdue and wife, Cynthia, of Bossier City and Alan E. Perdue and wife, Melinda of Bossier City; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Perdue Welch and partner, Steven Smedstad of Hearne, Texas; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous cousins and relatives from the Central Texas area and friends and neighbors from the Doyline/Lake Bistineau area. The family would like to express special thanks to Mike Powell, his neighbor from across the canal for all the help and care given during the past couple years, his other neighbor, Russell McVey for such a great neighboring friendship and to the staff of Christus Schumpert Highland, especially Jeff Page, RN for going above and beyond in his care and kindness. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Legion, Koran Post 388, 5401 LA-527, Haughton, LA 71037 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
