Rebecca Jane Aaron

Graveside services celebrating the life of Rebecca Jane Thrash Aaron, 90, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Forest Park West Cemetery with Rev. Woody Janise officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 14, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel. Rebecca was born August 10, 1929, in Bryceland, LA to Walter Douglas and Ione Grigg Thrash. She passed away on August 7, 2020, in Tulsa, OK. She grew up enjoying going to school, playing basketball, and participating in 4H. Becky moved to Shreveport for business college after graduating high school and it was there that she met Bernon, the love of her life. They married in January 1949 and she was his "sugar" for 63 years before he passed away in 2012. They lived all of their years together in Shreveport, raised a loving family, enjoyed a host of friends, were active members in church, and traveled together frequently. Becky sang in the choir and taught Sunday school classes at Morningside Baptist Church and Kingston Road Baptist Church for decades. She served as secretary at Morningside Baptist Church and with the Northwest Louisiana Baptist Association for many years. She was a phenomenal home cook, made the best desserts, and canned and stored everything she could from the large gardens she and Bernon tended. She was a skilled seamstress, making everything from clothes, to quilts, to curtains and tablecloths. In her later years while living in Oklahoma, she enjoyed visiting with family, completing crossword puzzles and word searches, and watching any ballgame she could find on TV. She also made beautiful needlepoint and cross stitch pieces. Becky is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernon, and her son Mike. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Ann Moffett; son John Aaron and wife DeLane; grandson Chris Aaron and wife Laura; granddaughter Samantha Fox and husband James; five great grandchildren - Mason, Asher and Ezra Aaron, Micah and Clara Fox; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to all of the staff at Sand Plum Assisted Living in Bixby, OK for helping to provide her with a comfortable, happy place to live and thrive during her later years; as well as to the doctors and nurses at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK for being so kind and caring during her final hours.
