Remembering Richard Lee Flores

“Ricky” Richard Lee Flores was born in Mansfield, Louisiana May 27, 1974 to his loving mother Dianne Norwood Boyt and Randy Flores.

His life ended May 25, 2020, but his story continues. Friends remember Ricky as a “one of a kind good guy” with “a heart of gold”, “quick witted and kind hearted”, “a true and loyal friend”, and “would give you the shirt off his back”.

Ricky was always determined to give and do his very best. This was evident from the age of nine with his love for dirt bikes and motocross. “Quick Rick”, as many called him, is remembered for his beginning years at John Neilson’s track in Carmel where he took great pride in competition, always pushing himself. He even took a little push from his cousin Brad (and probably a little alcohol) into the chute to try his luck at bull riding. In later years, Ricky channeled his drive and energy in weightlifting and continued pushing himself and friends to be their best.

After a year and a half at Northwestern State University, Ricky landed his dream job at International Paper In Mansfield, LA where he worked for 20 years and set the record to date for the most paper made in a 12 hour shift, his proudest accomplishment.

Ricky was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and a big fan of MMA. He loved to talk and joke, loved to pull a smile, and was responsible for many good laughs and good times.

Left to cherish his memory are his many friends and his family: his dogs Brute and Domino, step father Jeff Boyt of Mansfield, LA, father Randy Flores of Joaquin, TX, step brother Zac Austin of Converse, LA, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Dianne Norwood Boyt whom he adored and will be laid to rest beside her in the Pollard Cemetery on Louisiana Highway 481 in the Lula community following a graveside service lead by Brother Larry Dixon Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 2:30 PM.

Visitation will be May 28, 2020 12:00-2:00 PM at Roseneath Chapel in Mansfield, LA.

Serving as pallbearers are Lance Ford, Casey Ford, Kevin Marler, Red Marler, Randy Early, and James Pearson.

Honorary pallbearers are Ricky’s cousins Brad Norwood, Matt Boyt, Dustin Boyt, and his step brother Zac Austin.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to an animal rescue or shelter such as DeSoto Parish Animal Services in Grand Cane ( or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (
