Richard Edward Salter of Shreveport passed away January 9th, 2021. Richard was born in Coushatta, Louisiana on August 23, 1932. After serving his country in the United States Airforce, he joined the French's Corporation as a sales representative. Richard's work included postings in Birmingham, Alabama, Tampa, Florida and Mandeville, Louisiana where he retired as a Regional Manager. Richard returned to the Shreveport area after he retired. As a member of the Masonic Lodge, he attained his 32nd degree. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Zelma Salter of Shreveport. He is survived by his brother, Ledarby Salter and wife, Martha of Shreveport, nephew Dennis Salter and wife, Carolyn of Stonewall, Louisiana and niece, Patricia Wooten and husband, James of Avinger, Texas. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews and a great-great nephew and niece along with a host of cousins. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport where he enjoyed fellowship with his Sunday School class and Pastor Chad Hardbarger. He often commented about how much Brother Chad assisted him before he moved to Heritage Manor West. The family wishes to acknowledge the faithful care and service provided by the staff of Heritage Manor West. Your professionalism and labor of love provided him care and comfort in his last years, and this is greatly appreciated by his family. In addition, the friendship of Brother Chad Hardbarger was in keeping with standards of a devoted and caring Pastor. A graveside service will be held January 14th, 2021 at Forest Park East Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Chad Hardbarger of Emmanuel Baptist Church will officiate the service.
