Ricky Dowdy

A memorial service celebrating Ricky Dowdy will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana with Brother Dennis Aaron officiating. Rick, as he liked to be called, was born in Star City, Arkansas February 10, 1959. Rick is preceded in death by his father, George W. Dowdy of Star City, Arkansas and his dad Ernest Singletary of Shreveport, LA and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Josh Dowdy and Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Murray of Star City, Arkansas He is survived by his mother Betty Dowdy Singletary of Shreveport; brother, Randy Dowdy and wife, Terri of Keithville; daughter, Kira Dowdy Gibbs and husband, Jeff; granddaughter, Autumn of Ruston; nephew, Clay Dowdy and wife, Holly; great-niece and nephews, Kyndol, Kolton, Kylor of Shreveport and his beloved pet, Honey. Rick graduated from Woodlawn High School. He went on to work for Caddo Parish School board for 26 years. His interests were Tae Kwon Do, in which he received a third degree black belt, league bowling and playing bingo. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His passion was singing and his music. Rick was a good friend to have, a great brother and a beloved son. He will be greatly missed but we know he is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, singing with the angels and we will see him again.
