Funeral Mass for Robert "Dee" Brossette, 84, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Matthew Long officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2019 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel and visitation will follow from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Dee was welcomed into the arms of our Lord where he now joins rejoins his wife Sara as they begin their dance in Heaven. He was born March 14, 1934 in Shreveport Louisiana and passed away January 11, 2019. He served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Philippine Sea. He built a reputation as a well-known, respected construction superintendent working for Florsheim and Brown Builders, over seeing Airline Baptist Church, Cope Jr. High and Noel Memorial Library at LSUS. However, that reputation was only over shadowed by the Legacy he left behind as a loving husband, father, brother, grand-father to 18 and great-grandfather to 14. He opened his home to friends and friends of his sons, encouraging many through his kindness and generosity. Dee's love of gardening, hunting, fishing and love of family he willed to his four sons. He enjoyed his farm where he grew enough food to feed a small town and the lake where he enjoyed time with friends, family and nephew Robert.
Dee was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Sara Rose Brossette; parents, Robert C. and Irene J. Brossette; brother, Bill Brossette; and sisters, Shirley Davis and Rose Marie Elliot. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Chris Brossette and wife Christina, Dennis Brossette and wife Amy, Daryl Brossette and wife Becky, and John Brossette and wife Suzanne; sister-in-law, Sonja Brossette; sisters, Nancy Brossette, Karen Sturm and husband Russell, Kathy Williams and husband Rick, and Denise Brossette; brother, Keith Brossette and wife Bernice; and 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad Brossette, Michael Brossette, Phillip Brossette, Ben Brossette, Dustin Brossette, Hunter Brossette, Caleb Brossette, Gavin Pugh, Matthew Pugh, Jacob Evans, Michael McQuillen, Victor McQuillen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children in honor of his nephew, Robert Brossette and great-granddaughter, Morgan Pugh.
