Funeral Services for Robert "Bobby" Thorpe Lewis will be held on Monday, May 25, 2020 at Blue Ridge Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, with interment at Spring Ridge Cemetery. Officiating the funeral will be Brother David Hill. Pallbearers will be his nephews: Michael Rains, Douglas Rains, John Brian Lewis, William Carl Lewis, William Benjamin Lewis, Jarrad Rivers, and Micah James. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clay Walker and Robbie Willis. Bobby passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020.
Bobby was born September 24, 1947 to William and Mary Lewis of Pelican. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn "Peachie" Lewis, parents, and brothers William Benjamin Lewis and Morton Lewis. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Theresa; his children, Robert Thorpe Lewis and wife Jill, Dondra Grigg and husband Paul, Jamie Parks, Joel Wooley and wife Amber, Meghan Evans and husband Gary, Bobbie Lewing and husband Timothy; grandchildren, Gabryel Garlington, Makenna Grigg, Desirae Parks, Cara and Jaycie Wooley, Anderson and Hadley Lewing; siblings Sandra Rains and husband Randall, Stephen Lewis and wife Patsy, and John Lewis and wife Alecia along with a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Bobby was a graduate of Pelican High School and Northwestern State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as an Aircraft Loadmaster in the Air Force. In 1968, Bobby married his wife of forty-three years, Marilyn "Peachie" Dyes. They made Pleasant Hill, Louisiana their home, and Bobby would go on to serve his community in various capacities including serving on the building committee for Pleasant Hill High School and as Justice of the Peace in Pleasant Hill. Bobby was a member of Blue Ridge Methodist Church and was active in the Masonic Lodge in Ajax. Bobby and Theresa married in 2012, and in 2014, Bobby retired from the Sabine Parish School Board as Business Manager in order to spend his time traveling, playing with his grandkids, and spoiling his dog Chewy. One of Bobby's favorite past times involved working on race cars, talking about race cars, watching dirt track races, and spending time with his brothers and family involved in Lewis Racing. Bobby leaves behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and resilience. He will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
Friends may visit Sunday, May 24 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield from 5:00-9:00 PM. Service will be held Monday, May 25 at Blue Ridge Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, LA at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children-Shreveport.
