Roger Culbertson, Sr.

Funeral services will be held for Roger Culbertson, Sr., age 88, at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Arcadia. Bro. Jeff Hoffman and Bro. Lamar Skinner will officiate. The interment will follow at Driskill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday night from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Roger Culbertson Sr., went to be with the Lord, September 28, 2014. He was born in Arcadia, LA on March 7, 1926 to Ira R. and Agnes Wilson Culbertson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Ira Lee and Scooter. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Dot) Moseley Culbertson, son Dr. Roger Culbertson and daughter Cissy Floyd and husband Don. "Big Roger" is also survived by his grandchildren Jason Floyd and wife Dr. Jennifer Floyd and Libby Remrey and husband Alex and by great-grandchildren Savannah, Triston, Cason, Floyd, Noel, Titus, Alexander and Addison. He leaves to cherish his memory many family members and friends. Roger led an active life as a deacon, faithful church member, husband, father and friend. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the American Legion. During his life, he worked for Southern Natural Gas Co., served as a member of the LA Forestry Assn., LA Cattleman's Assn. and served on the board of the LA Soil Conservation for many years. Pallbearers will be Dr. Terry Gardner, Paul Spillers, Don McGhee, Ralph Jordon, Curtis McCrary, Scott Mizell, Johnny Brooker and James Loe. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Roy Moore's Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be given to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
