Sherry Young, age 69, passed away peacefully in The Woodlands, TX on July 10 after a long, valiant battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by her family during her final days.

Sherry was born at Barksdale AFB, Bossier City, LA to Bearl and Mable (Brossette) Haynes and graduated from Airline High School, where she met Donnie Young, her love for over 50 years.  They married in 1969 and raised two sons, Brandon and Jared.

Sherry liked to stay busy, and continued her job at Lone Star College as long as possible. She also filled her days with several hobbies.  She enjoyed cooking and baking, and loved working on puzzles.  She was an avid reader and took pride in her beautiful flower beds.  Sherry was always ready to dig through an antique shop for treasures, and Christmas was so special to her that she decorated her entire house.  Sherry was known for her kind heart and quick wit, tempered with a spicy, no-nonsense attitude beloved by her family and friends.

Her father Bearl and her mother Mable preceded Sherry in death.  She is survived by her husband Donnie, sons Brandon (Kelly) and Jared (Courtney), and grandsons Nicholas (Brandon) and Case (Jared); as well as her brother Larry and her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday morning, July 16, 2019 from 9-11 am at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA, with the service beginning at 11 am.  Officiating will be Rev. Karl Klaus.  Interment will follow in Rose-Neath Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, one of her favorite charities, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
