Sidney retired as a Captain with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office. He served in many divisions during his time with the Sheriff’s Office, but spent most of his time as a pilot. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserves. He was an avid hunter and fisher and spent many years pursuing this passion, both for pleasure and business, all around the country. He enjoyed nature and dearly loved the many dogs and cats that he kept as pets.

Sidney is predeceased by his wife Barbara Roberts Herold and his sister Eleanor Herold Vallhonrat. He is survived by his sister Anne Herold Winks, as well as his nieces and nephews, Paul Vallhonrat and his wife Janna, Samuel Gifford and his wife Teri, Charles Vallhonrat and his wife Susan, Anne Vallhonrat Bruner and her husband David, and Eugenie Gifford Baumann.

The family would like to acknowledge Rusty and Annette Green for their love and devotion to Sidney over the years, for which they are truly grateful. Additionally, the family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Willis Knighton Pierremont as well as Sidney’s caretakers: Monica Lockett, Patti Brister, and Sha Farris.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana followed by a private graveside service.  A visitation will be held at the funeral home on the same day from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.  Rabbi Dr. Jana L. DeBenedetti from Bnai Zion Congregation will officiate.
