Stephen Ponder

Bossier City, LA - Stephen Eugene Ponder, 58, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2015. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Bossier City, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Clarence Chism. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the funeral home. Stephen \"Steve\" was born September 13, 1956 in Shreveport, LA to Willie Frank and Bettye Rhea Ponder. He was a proud member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 141. He was a loving father to two children, and was a proud \"Papaw\" to his two grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He devoted his life to his family who he loved dearly and would always lend a helping hand to even a stranger on the street. He was also a wonderful caregiver of our mother of which he lived with until her death just weeks ago in February, we are grateful to him for all he did for her, sometimes overlooking his own health. Steve was a gentle, kind, and loving brother and we will miss him from this day forward. Preceding Steve in death is his mother, Bettye R. Ponder; father, Willie F. Ponder; infant sister, Virginia Clare Ponder; and nephew, Jason D. Scott. He is survived by his children; Stephen \"Chase\" Ponder and wife, Jessica of Bossier City, LA, Courtney P. Ponder of Shreveport, LA, and their mother, Terri Lee; two grandchildren, Stephen Jace and Addison Claire Ponder of Bossier City, LA; his sister, Karen P. Scott and husband, Eddie T. of Bossier City, LA; two brothers, Philip A. Ponder of Bossier City, LA; and Mark T. Ponder and wife, Valerie of Haughton, LA, aunt, Jo Nell Stuckey, nieces and nephews, Daniel T. Scott and wife, Sabrina, Kristen P. Milligan, Britney N. Brown and husband, Vince, Ceson V. Ponder, and Caitlin A. Ponder. Honoring Steve as pallbearers will be his brothers Mark and Philip Ponder, also Dylan Miller, Daniel Scott, Eddie Scott, Jay Woolley, and Christian Satterfield.
