Susan Pamela Hodnett

A Celebration of Life for Susan Pamela Sibley Hodnett beginning at 6:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Shreveport, Louisiana on Monday, April 8, 2019, officiated by Brother Steve Riall. Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. until time of service. Susan was born January 28, 1963 and passed away peacefully on April 2, 2019. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, David "Dutch" Hodnett; daughter and best friend Channing Olivia Zimmerman and husband Trey and their two children Noah and Cassidy, Matthew Hodnett and wife Karissa and Amanda Hodnett and fiancée Loran Reynolds; brother Michael Foster; sisters Sharon Sibley Buzzanca and husband Kevin Remedies, Janie Baker and husband Jamie and Jeanie Johnson and husband Bruce; father and mother-in-law Dave and Judy Hodnett, sister-in-law Tommie Turgeon and husband Ed, and brother-in-law Dan Hodnett and wife Alexis. Susan's role as a mother also extended to niece Christy Crook who is forever crowned CTB. Susan is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Darnell Sibley and father, Kenneth Grover Sibley. Susan had a special bond with Becky and Nick Pizzolato, Dutch's mother and step-father, who also preceded her in death. Susan and Dutch were married on June 1, 2002. Susan was introduced to Dutch through his brother Dan. They built a family on the foundation of their ever-present love, made evident by their continual acceptance and completely open arms. If you were ever family, you were always family. Whether it was vacations or opening their home up for an LSU game, Susan and Dutch loved bringing family together. As a sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother Susan was given many names. "YaYa" loved and cherished her grandchildren Noah (4) and Cassidy (1). Aunt SuSu was the go-to aunt to so many amazing nieces and nephews. She showed each one of them that they held a special place in her heart. If you needed a shoulder to cry on or a shield to protect you, Aunt SuSu was there. Susan was a unique and amazing woman. She would light up a room with her ability to make people laugh at themselves, laugh at her, or laugh at any situation. She could dance, sing, and bring out the sass and glitter for any occasion. Susan was never without her sweet tea or Coke in a monogrammed or sassy tumbler. You always knew where you stood with her. You also knew she would stand with you anytime needed. Susan's loving and kindred spirit will be remembered forever, while her ashes will be scattered across the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama amongst the pussy willows where she is rumored to have lost a precious koozie in 1997. Susan and all the Glitter Girls cherished that week on the beach in 1997. It was the last hoorah before she met the man of her dreams, Dutch Hodnett. Susan lived her best years with Dutch and the large family they shared. Her love for others extended well beyond her family as was evident in the many lives she touched in her career as a registered nurse and patient advocate. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Glitter Girls. Susan built a legacy as a sister, wife, mother, aunt SuSu, YaYa, best friend and the glitteriest of the Glitter Girls. She will be missed, she will be remembered, and she will be loved forever and always, Susan Pamela Sibley Hodnett
