Thelma Matthews

A Memorial Service for Thelma "Terry" Edwards Matthews, 91, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2017 in the Cooper Chapel at The Glen, 403 E. Flournoy Lucas Rd., Shreveport, LA 71115, with Father Christopher Heying officiating of St. Matthias Church. Terry was born December 14, 1925, in Aylesbury Buckinghamshire, England to Amy Lily Chiswell Edwards and Charles Herbert Edwards and passed away peacefully October 4, 2017, at The Glen. She was a loving mother of four and a great caregiver to her family and friends. Terry was very proud of her British Heritage and traveled back as often as she could to spend time with her English family. She was a 50 year plus member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church; she still remained friends with many of them. Her gift of gab will certainly be missed. The family wants to thank all the staff and caregivers at the Village Health Care and The Glen for their love and support. Terry was preceded in death by her parents, and her twin brothers John and Roy Edwards. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Brenda Snider, and Gail Flett; sons, Craig Herbert and wife, Carrie, and Scott Herbert and wife, Denise; Grandchildren, Shane Bryant and wife, Jessica, Shannon Bryant, Shaun Snider and wife Melissa, Michael Herbert, and Andrew Herbert and wife, Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Brittony Bryant, Gracey Blair, Liam Bryant, Brody Snider, Liam Herbert, Evan Herbert; niece, Susan Edwards; special cousin, Jo Crocker, and many nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials may be made to The Glen, 403 E. Flournoy Lucas Rd., Shreveport, LA 71115, St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 3301 St. Matthias Dr., Shreveport, LA 71119, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
