Funeral services for Thomas "Tommy" A. Johnson, 74, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, with Dr. Kenny Joyner officiating, burial will follow at the NW LA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA. Visitation will be Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport. Tommy was born May 21, 1945, the son of Dr. James A. Johnson and Margaret Emanuel Johnson. He passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the age of 74. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James A. Johnson and Margaret Emanuel Johnson; brother in law, Patrick David Wilkins, Sr.; nephew, Robert W. Welch, Jr.; nephew, Nathan P. Jones; brother in law, Delbert \"Radar\" Jones Tommy was a graduate of Fair Park High School in Shreveport, class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Ticonderoga CVA-14, 1st Division Carrier Air Wing 5. He loved softball, bowling, making people laugh, telling jokes, kids, watching the LSU Tigers (Geaux Tigahs), Dallas Cowboys, and Atlanta Braves. His work history included Greers Printing, Ammunition Plant, Piggly Wiggly, Goodwill, Willow Point Baptist Church, Classic Reprographics, and Highland Clinic. As a young man, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. This led to his involvement with the church bus ministry, Awana, and teaching kids in Sunday School. He loved his son more than anything - truly the light of his life. Left to cherish his memory: Son, Michael Johnson (wife Jennifer) of Haughton, LA; 5 Siblings: Sissie Johnson Courtney of Longview, TX, James A. Johnson, III (wife Pam) of Jackson, LA, Melisha Johnson of Denham Springs, LA, Becky Johnson Hale of Jackson, LA, Joanna Jones of Vivian, LA; a host of nieces and nephews; Former spouse and mother to Michael, Linda Mann Johnson of Shreveport, LA.
