Tona Lynn Barbaree Walston

Tona Lynn Barbaree Walston was born on January 20, 1951, in Texarkana, Arkansas to Denton A. Barbaree and Clara Jean Barbaree. Tona passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 in Shreveport following a valiant and lengthy fight against cancer. Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 17, at 11:00 am, at Rose-Neath South, officiated by Pastor Gary Cavalier. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery West in Shreveport. In honor of Tona, the family would like to invite all attendees to wear bright colors to her service. Tona was a 1969 graduate of Fair Park High School in Shreveport. Her lifelong joys centered around her family. She loved cooking and frequently hosting family and friends, especially at Thanksgiving, her favorite holiday. But Tona's favorite thing to do was talk. Never one to be shy, Tona would strike up conversations with anyone and everyone, about any topic. She made friends everywhere she went. Tona is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wes Barbaree. She is survived by her husband, Tim Walston; son, Chris Miciotto and wife, Christie; daughter, Bridget Miciotto Eavenson and husband, Troy; son, Lance Walston and wife, DeAnna; son, Jason Walston and wife, Lee Ann; brother, Philip Barbaree, Sr. and wife, Karen; grandchildren: Kacey Miciotto, Noah Miciotto, Isabella Miciotto, Jocelyn Walston, Ethan Parrie, Keith McMellon and Amber McMellon; great-granddaughters, Abigail Lynn Spencer, Kenzie McMellon, and Amilya Hammond and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Lillie Mae and Zoey. Tona's family would like to especially thank her close friend of 60 years, Johnnie Brasher, who provided care, companionship, and comfort to Tona. Honoring Tona as pallbearers will be Noah Miciotto, Ethan Parrie, Colton Lunday, Zachary Lunn, Justin Addy, and Charley Reid. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Troy Eavenson, Philip Barbaree, Jr., Ross Hickman, Mark Ludke, and J. Allen Cooper, Jr.
