Virginia A. Carmichael

Virginia A. Carmichael, 76, was born on October 23, 1943 to John Carmichael and Annie Hall in Shreveport, Louisiana passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Ochsner LSU hospital in Shreveport after a long and difficult illness. Virginia served four years in the United States Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. She became a Respiratory Therapist and worked the last eight years of her medical career at LSUHSC. She took great pride in her work and loved taking care of her patients. She was an asset to her profession and to her hospital. She has the dedication and headstrong determination that would have led her to the frontlines of the corona virus battle being fought at this time. Virginia was a very bright, kind, sweet and saucy soul. She loved nature and animals, especially her beloved and spoiled pets. Traveling God's country was a delight to her heart and spirit...and the artistry of New Mexico was among her favorite places on earth. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Carmichael; sister, Stephanie Carmichael and niece, Kimberly DeLaune. She is survived by her partner, Patricia Carroll; son, Todd Carroll; daughter, Allison Carroll; granddaughters, Isabelle Duran and Natalie Carroll; grandson, Nathaniel Carroll; brother, John Carmichael, III and wife, Susan; sister, Cynthia Gates; niece, Kristy Coast; nephew, John Carmichael, IV; great-nieces, Maggie Kate Coast and Molly Coast; great-nephew, Clint DeLaune and her four legged children, Itty Bitty, Peavy, Gray Baby and Cassie. During this time of social distancing, please celebrate Virginia's life the way she requested: raise your voices, extend your hands, and open your hearts! Take care of your loved ones and yourself in these fragile times.
