Arcadia - A memorial service will be held for Wayne Dring, age 77, at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Arcadia. Rev. Jeff Hoffman will officiate. Wayne was born June 22, 1940, in Simsboro, LA. He entered into rest on August 1, 2017, in Arcadia, LA. Wayne was a member of First Baptist Church, and a former choir member. He was the Editor of the Bienville Democrat for 15 years, and was at every festival, parade, sporting event and news event in Bienville Parish. Wayne loved his community. He was a part of the Lion's Club where he enjoyed working the gate at the Bonnie and Clyde Trade Days, and was a Bienville Parish Communication District 911 Board Member. He was also an avid hunter, and enjoyed his time with nature. Wayne proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he was an Intercept Analysis. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Alva and Willa Dean Hicks Dring, daughter Margaret McGowen Davis and brother-in-law David Brown who was his life-long best friend. He is survived by his wife Peggy Dring, Children Amanda Hope Driskill, Jennifer Guree and Robert McGowen, grandchildren Dustie McGowen, Kimberly Burgess, Andria Tate and Collins Grace Guree, 6 great grandchildren, brother Charles Dring and wife Shirley, and their children Stacy Martin and Jason Dring, sister Sue Brown, and children Karen Broder and Connie Wise and by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. The family would like to thank Premier Hospice and Magnolia Home Health for their help during this time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at the First National Bank in Arcadia.
