William Bigby, Sr.

Funeral services for William Bigby, Sr. ,94, will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road, Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Pastor Bryan Reed. A visitation will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. William was born on September 1, 1926 to Arthur Lawton Bigby and Lillie Munn Bigby in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 in Shreveport. William was a resident of Shreveport and worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad for 40 years before retiring and going to work for H&R Block for over ten years. He was in the United States Navy in World War II where he fought in Okinawa, Japan. William is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Frances Bigby; his parents; sister and brother. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Becky Fuller, William J. Bigby, Jr. and wife, Nelda, Robert Thomas Bigby and wife, Patty, nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Honoring William as pallbearers will be Don Jones, Austin Bigby, Scott Fuller, Cameron Kimberlin, Corey Kimberlin and Joel Patterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Hayden Ebey and Alan Parker. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home and the staff at Willis-Knighton Pierremont for the excellent care and compassion given to William in the last years of his life.
