William DePingre

\"A Life Well Lived\" Bill went to his heavenly home on October 17th, 2017. He passed away peacefully at home with his family present. Graveside services will held at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11: a.m. with military honors. Visitation will be Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. He was such a kind, gentle man, and will be lovingly remembered by so many of us left in this earthly home. Most of all Charlsie, the one true and treasured love of his life for 62 years. His children and grandchildren were his proudest accomplishments: Amanda DePingre Lambert, Amy DePingre Massey and husband Scott, William Paul DePingre and wife Gina, David Hamilton DePingre and wife Amanda, and \"oldest son\" and brother-in-law Charlie Ford and wife Linda. His grandchildren, Paxton, Margaret, Walker, and Hannah Victoria DePingre loved and revered their Papa and he was happiest when he had all his \"chickens\" around him. Bill will be missed by his beloved nephews and nieces and his sister and law and friend, Evelyn Smith. Bill was so proud to have served his country as a US Marine. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War and survived the brutal elements of the battle of The Chosen Reservoir. He was wounded by mortar fire and lost six toes to frostbite, but God spared his life to create his beloved family. After the trauma of war, Bill always said his life began when he started his family. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1992, where he worked tirelessly to support his family with Charlsie, also a postal employee. He thoroughly embraced and enjoyed retirement. Bill was active in several organizations, including the Marine Corps League, Order of the Purple Heart, American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge. Our family called him by many names: Bill, Daddy, Papa, and Pops. But we all agree on one thing: He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, and he was a living example of a truly loving Godly man. \"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with The Lord.\" 2nd Corinthians 5:8
