Fort Worth, TX - Funeral services for William C. (Bill) Holmes will be held at 2 o'clock on Friday Sept 18, 2020 at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia, LA. Visitation will be on Thursday Sept 17 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow the funeral at Oak Grove Cemetery east of Arcadia on Hwy 147. Bill was born July 12, 1954 in Shreveport, LA to Patsy Yvonne Caston and William L. Holmes. He entered eternal rest on Sept 13, 2020 from a sudden illness. He was 66 years old. He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Holmes. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tammy Louise Williams Holmes and only son William Alexander Holmes, both of Fort Worth, TX. He is also survived by his mother, Patsy Holmes; brother; Mark, and wife Tracy; two sisters Renee Boggs, and husband Ray; and Karen Newlen, and husband Ken. He also leaves behind two sisters in law; Kathy Tuminello, and husband Frank; Carol Orr, and husband David; and brother in law Robert Foreman, and his wife Diana. He was also blessed with a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends which he loved dearly. Bill grew up in Sailes, LA where he gave his life to Jesus Christ at the age of 9 years old and was baptized into the kingdom of God at a small pond behind the church. The most important things in Bill's life were his family, friends, and his Lord. Bill graduated from Bienville Academy in Bryceland, LA in 1975. He went on to serve as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was educated and trained as an Air Traffic Controller. Following his military service, he went to work for the FAA spending 42 years and 3 months as an Air Traffic Control Specialist. Bill was working at DFW Airport on 9-11, assisting in landing every aircraft from the skies in a three-hour period. He went on to become an instructor in the training department, training other new controllers to become the best they could be. Bill retired from the FAA on Jan 3, 2020. Bill was passionate about many things and took great pride in his work, family, friendships and leisure activities. He loved fishing and camping with his wife and son among many other family activities. He especially cherished time spent with his son Alex, building computers. He also enjoyed doing home improvement and fixing things around the house. Bill found great joy in his hobbies of cooking, smoking meats, and doing woodwork projects. Bill was an avid lover of motorcycles and spent many great times riding with his wife, brother, and the special friends that he made along the way. Bill will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He will be passionately missed by all who love him.
