Willis Lavelle Penix

Athens - Funeral services will be held for Willis Lavelle Penix, age 80, at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia. Rev. Perry Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow at Tulip Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 on Tuesday. Willis was born June 1, 1939, to Claude and Ruby Almond Penix, in Claiborne Parish LA. He passed away on August 25, 2019, in Arcadia, LA. Willis was a member of Athens United Methodist Church. He retired from Louisiana DOTD as a Highway Superintendent. Willis enjoyed camping and traveling. He also loved his cows. Willis is preceded in death by his parents Claude and Ruby Almond Penix, and his sister Nita Sanders. He is survived by his wife Mary Edwards Penix, children Jeff Penix and wife Amanda and Shelle Feazell and husband Rick, step children John Danforth, and Jarred Spurlock and wife Vanessa, grandchildren Colin Feazell, Emily Danforth, Hayden Danforth, Kimberly Danforth, Ansley Danforth, and Grace Spurlock, by great grandchild Caitlin Feazell, by his sister Dyne Woods, by his brother Hardy Penix and wife Jo, and by numerous other nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Buzzy Buckner, Paul Cook, Michael Allen, Paul Hughes, Lee Faulk, and Len Gantt. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Faulk, Richard Jarrell, and Ardis Powell.
